An election committee was selected at the general meeting, as per the DCSMEC by-laws, consisting of Mike Hudson (chairman), Gracian Casas and Joseph Cortese.

General membership meeting

The DCSMEC Union is having a General Membership meeting on
Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Miami Free Zone 
location, 2315 NW 107 Avenue, Miami, FL 33172 in Conference Room
2M8-9 at 4:30 pm. Elections will be conducted on October 11 at
 all MSC’s and the ITS Warehouse.

The Agenda for the meeting is as follows:

• Take nominations for Officers.

• Select an Election Committee by majority vote of the members at
 the meeting.

* The final reading of bylaw changes.

You do not have to be present to be nominated however; you must contact
and provide a letter to the Union Office within five (5) business days
 accepting the nomination. This Election process will be conducted
 as close as possible to the existing procedures for nomination and
 installation of Officers according to the By-Laws, Article V, Section 10.

Stewards are asked to make every effort to attend this meeting.

Have a happy Labor Day weekend

DCSMEC Wishes everyone a safe LABOR DAY WEEKEND

Generally, Labor Day passes all too quickly as the third day off in a three-day weekend. This year, however, I want to remind you that Labor Day is a time to recognize the laborer.

That’s you.

I would like to express my gratitude to all of you for doing your jobs honestly and efficiently this past year. Indeed, each of you plays an important role and contributes to our collective success.

Please accept my best wishes for each of you and have a safe and fun three-day weekend!

General membership meeting/2nd. training session

DCSMEC will be conducting the Second training sessions beginning on Tuesday August 18, 2015, at the Miami Free Zone.
The training sessions will be held in conjunction with our DCSMEC general membership meeting. All who need the new 2 Hr. CEU are required to attend the training sessions.
The Honorable John Mills will be assisting with these training sessions. We request members wishing to attend to RSVP by calling (305) 477-6002 and providing your name and employee number. Only those members that RSVP will walk out with confirmation of the training, those that do not will have to request confirmation at a later date.

2014-2015 DCSMEC Ratification Vote

The 2014-2015 M-DCPS/DCSMEC reopener contract Vote is as follows:

Voting will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Locations for voting are listed below.
o MSC1 – 12525 N.W. 28 Avenue, Miami, FL 33167

o MSC 2 – 2925 N.W. 41 Street, Miami, FL 33142

• Supervisors of DCSMEC bargaining unit members who do not report to Maintenance Service Centers (MSC), (i.e., Zone Mechanics, Special Project Employees) or employees who are not in Maintenance Operations’ locations (i.e., ITS, Food and Nutrition), should give the employees the opportunity to go to an MSC or ITS Annex to participate in the vote at one of the above sites.\

INFORMATIONAL SESSION (Tentative Agreement)

2015 HEALTH INSURANCE

Informational Session

An informational session on the 2014-2015 M-DCPS/DCSMEC Tentative Agreement and 2015 Health Insurance Plan is scheduled as follows:

Tuesday, December 2, 2014​  2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Ronald Reagan Senior High School Auditorium
8600 N.W. 107 Avenue, Miami, FL 33177

An overview of the 2014-2015 Tentative Agreement and the 2015 Health Insurance Plan and Flexible Benefit Options will be provided. Employees may attend the Informational Session with notice to their supervisor and/or location administrator.

Employees are encouraged to carpool as parking is limited. There will be a few spaces in the main parking lot. Employees may also park on the school side of the school’s perimeter. Employees should enter through the main office building.

Solstice representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on how to enroll for the 2015 benefits package.

Open Enrollment

The deadline for enrollment for 2015 Health Insurance and Flexible Benefits is December 10, 2014. Additional information about the enrollment process will be provided at the Informational Session.
