It was brought to our attention by a concerned DCSMEC member who after using Memorial Hospital Urgent Care centers was billed incorrectly.  The problem was reported to Cigna and corrected.  Should you experience any problems with a hospital bill or have any questions regarding your Cigna Insurance Plan to call Cigna directly at 1-800-806-3052 or call Risk Management at 305-995-7129 or 305-995-7130 and ask to speak to a Cigna Representative.

In addition to the reminder posted last week of our General Membership meeting tomorrow, March 19, 2013 we will also have two guests at this meeting; Rosa Novo, Employee Benefits Director from the Office of Risk and Benefits Management to discuss Spring Enrollment and new federal changes that will affect our new health insurance and also Mr. Francis Hoar from Facilities Operations Maintenance to discuss the realignment of the Satellites and to discuss details and answer questions.

The Florida Supreme Court has sided with the Legislature in upholding a Law requiring government employees to contribute 3% of their pay towards their retirement plans.

The 4-3 decision allows lawmakers to collect up to $2 billion by June 30, 2013; the end of the State’s Fiscal year.

DCSMEC disagreed with this ruling as we believe that using middle class workers in this State to balance the budget is wrong.  However, as a nation of laws we respect the Court’s decision.

We hope the Lawmakers in this State do not forget that the savings “come from the backs of hard working middle class Americans” who are active members of FRS.
