After years of planning, the new UHealth Medical Center at Miami Jackson Senior High School is now open to see patients.  This comprehensive medical facility, staffed by medical professionals from the University of Miami (UHealth), including a Medical Director, Nurse Practitioner, and other medical professionals , provides  comprehensive primary care and wellness counseling.  The medical center is open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through  Friday and also on Saturday from 9:00 am to noon. 

 

This state of the art medical center is designed to provide our members and their dependents comprehensive medical care with primary care office visits being provided with only a $10 co-payment requirement. For more information, go to http://uhealthdadeschools.com.

 

Primary Care Physician Visit:     $10   co-payment

Specialist Physician Visit:           $50   co-payment

Diagnostic Testing:                     $100 co-payment

DCSMEC NOTICE

 

It is with great sadness that the Officers of DCSMEC notify our Members on the passing of Charles (Chuck) Burdeen Chuck was the Executive Director of the Dade County Schools Administrator Association (DCSAA), a charter member of the Coalition of School Unions and a longtime friend of labor.  

Chuck had a long and distinguished career of fighting for the rights of workers from here to Chicago and he will be sorely missed.  

Those of us who will continue the struggle of ensuring the conditions and working rights of workers will certainly miss our colleague in arms and if we know Chuck, he is probably in Heaven organizing a place for us all.

DCSMEC Will be holding a General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Miami Freezone building 2315 NW. 107th Ave. Doral, FL 33172 from 4:30 PM till 7:30 PM.

DCSMEC would like to congratulate Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho selected as the National Superintendent of the Year by the School Superintendent’s Association at the organization’s National Conference in Nashville, TN.

Upon selection Mr. Carvalho shared these thoughts with us, “Being named National Superintendent of the Year is truly a great honor, but I realize it’s not simply an honor for me, today’s recognition reflects the dedication, sacrifice and work of every member of our education family as well as the guidance and direction of our School Board;  I share this award with every teacher, student, employee, and community partner of Miami-Dade County Public Schools.”

We congratulate all the DCSMEC members whose hard work provides the foundation for the proper learning environment necessary for success in today’s ever evolving public education.

On behalf of Joe and Roly we would like to congratulate all the DCSMEC members on a great turn out yesterday for the 2013/2014 DCSMEC contract ratification vote.
